Fall is one of the most stressful times in a calf’s life, and proper preparation can make a difference at sale time.
Today’s market is rewarding preconditioned, properly vaccinated calves, with 45-day weaned calves currently bringing premiums of more than $100 per head.
Give preweaning vaccinations for ibr and pasteurella, followed by a booster at weaning. Calves weaned for 45–60 days can increase buyer interest and add value at the sale.
Start preparing now. Healthy, properly weaned calves attract more buyers—and can bring more money back to the ranch.
